Fourteen dead, Owner missing in Ikoyi building collapse

Fourteen bodies have so far been recovered from the rubble of a collapsed 21-storey building in Ikoyi area of Lagos, as rescue effort enters day three, even as the owner of the building, Femi Osibona, is reported to have also died.

The high-rise, which was still under construction collapsed on Monday afternoon, with over 50 persons reportedly still trapped under the ruins.

Osibona, owner of Fourscore Homes, the developing company in charge of the building, was said to have been trapped also in the rubble.

On Monday evening, a witness had said Osibona was in the building when it collapsed.

There were indications on Wednesday morning that he may have died in the rubble.

Osibona, 50, who is a native of Ikenne, in Ogun State, is MD of Fourscore Homes, the handlers of 360 Degrees Towers – three highrise buildings of 15-Stories often referred to as Luxury in the Sky and the Shalom Apartments in Ikoyi, among other projects in Lagos and the United Kingdom.

Osibona started his real estate business in London in 1997. He built the Fourscore Mansions in Waterkloof, Pretoria, South Africa.

Late woman’s friends accuse abusive husband and his mother of poisoning her to death

A young woman has lost her life after she was allegedly poisoned and her friends are accusing her husband and his mother of committing the act.

The young lady identified as Yetunde Balogun, reportedly converted from Christianity to Islam so as to marry her husband, who is a Muslim. The union gave them two daughters.

However, as Yetunde’s friends mourned her death, they claim that Yetunde, who is a graduate of the University of Ilorin, Linguistics Department, suffered domestic violence and complained to close friends and family.

She reportedly left her marriage but later returned after her husband begged. After she returned home, she reportedly began complaining to friends that her husband no longer eats her food.

On Monday, April 11, her husband allegedly returned home with food for her, which he allegedly said was prepared by his mother. Shortly after eating, Yetunde called a friend to complain of severe stomach pain. She died that same day in the hospital she was rushed to.

Her friends allege that Yetunde’s husband told them she consumed a poisonous substance in a bid to take her life, but the friends said Yetunde already made a call before her death to inform a friend when she suspected the food she was given was poisoned.

Her friends are now asking for an investigation into her death. Graduates of Unilorin have gone on Facebook to mourn her.

A Nigerian man has been left confused on what to do after discovering that his wife is building her own house without his knowledge.

A lady who overheard the man’s conversation at a restaurant, took to microblogging platform, Twitter, to share the man’s predicament.

She wrote,

“Was in this restaurant with a friend when a man sitting next to my table started talking about his wife.. apparently she’s building a house, he said he followed her one morning when she lied she was going to the early morning bush market but he has been feeling seeing some funny Movement lately and decided to traced her and lo and behold he got to see the house she’s building and according to him the house has 4flat at the top and 3down.

He came back home that day and couldn’t stop thinking who he actually married, she got back and continued her normal Marital duties and still no word from her about the house! He is thinking if he should confront her or allow it slide but he won’t ever trust her. If it were you what would you have done?”
